18 local authorities are involved in the campaign and will be coordinating action events in idling hotspots in their borough. Below you can find information about when the training and action events will be taking place. There will be an Idling Action event in Lambeth on Monday 1st October, from 1pm. The event training will take place at St John’s Church on Waterloo Road and then volunteers will go on to the streets around Waterloo, asking idling drivers to switch off and talking to passers-by about air quality.
Our second Idling Action event in Hounslow will take place on Monday 8th October at Strand-On-The-Green Infant and Junior schools.
We will be holding a special assembly on air quality for the children at the school, followed by a training session for volunteers who will then be on the street in time for the end of the school day, talking to parents arriving to collect their kids and encouraging idling drivers to switch off.
We are currently recruiting a team of enthusiastic volunteers who want to be part of this innovative education and behaviour change campaign to reduce localised air pollution and improve air quality in their residential and workplace community.
