15 local authorities are involved in the campaign and will be coordinating action events in idling hotspots in their borough. Below you can find information about when the training and action events will be taking place. There will be an Idling Action event taking place at the Royal London Hospital on Whitechapel Road on 21st September at 2pm. This Idling Action event in Tower Hamlets is the latest in our exciting series of Vehicle Idling Action Days in the borough and is in partnership with Barts Health NHS Trust as part of their work in support of the NHS Healthy London Partnership’s #AskAboutAsthma campaign.
Volunteers should meet at the main entrance to the hospital. There will be a short training session of about 30 minutes followed by a briefing so if you have not attended an Idling Action event before please arrive at 2pm and if you have you can arrive at 2.30pm.
Pairs of volunteers will then be sent on to the streets around the hospital to engage with drivers who are idling their engine. We will also bring our giant air quality Snakes & Ladders game to play with children in the hospital.
We are currently recruiting a team of enthusiastic volunteers who want to be part of this innovative education and behaviour change campaign to reduce localised air pollution and improve air quality in their residential and workplace community.
If you want to be a Vehicle Idling Action Champion in Tower Hamlets, please fill in the form on the Volunteers page of this website.
