18 local authorities are involved in the campaign and will be coordinating action events in idling hotspots in their borough. Below you can find information about when the training and action events will be taking place. Southwark Idling Action Event @ Better Bankside
Mar 26 @ 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm

This event in February will be in collaboration with Better Bankside, the local business improvement district. The event will take place from 3pm at the Better Bankside offices.

For any new volunteers, who have not had the training, they should arrive at 3pm for a brief training session before the main event starting at around 3.30pm (if you are new and require the training, please email paula@greengumption.co.uk to let her know you will be attending the training session).

Enfield Idling Action Event @ George Spicer Primary School
Mar 27 @ 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm

The next Idling Action event in Enfield will take place at George Spicer Primary School on Wednesday 27th March at 2pm. The event will start with training for volunteers while some of the pupils will play the giant air quality-themed Snakes & Ladders game. At 2.45pm there will be an assembly for the pupils before pairs of volunteers take to the streets around the school, engaging with drivers who are in idling vehicles and encouraging them to switch off.

Greenwich Idling Action Day @ Linton Mead Primary School
Mar 28 @ 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm

The next Idling Action event in Greenwich will take place at Linton Mead Primary School on Thursday 28th March (this event was originally scheduled for 12th March but the bad weather meant that it was postponed).

Volunteers should come to the school for 2.15pm for a training session before pairs of volunteers go out on to the streets around the school to engage with idling drivers. The pupils will also attend a special assembly to learn about how idling engines and transport affect air quality and health.

We are currently recruiting a team of enthusiastic volunteers who want to be part of this innovative education and behaviour change campaign to reduce localised air pollution and improve air quality in their residential and workplace community.

Islington Idling Action Event @ Mildmay Community Centre

There will be a training session for any new volunteers at Mildmay Community Centre starting at 2pm. This will be followed by the Idling Action event, where we will be going out to the nearby streets to ask drivers to switch off when parked to improve local air quality.

The next Idling Action event in Enfield will take place at Walker Primary School on Friday 29th March at 2pm. The event will start with an assembly for the pupils followed by training for volunteers (please arrive by 2.15pm), while some of the pupils will play the giant air quality-themed Snakes & Ladders game.

Volunteers will then take to the streets around the school, engaging with drivers who are in idling vehicles and encouraging them to switch off.

Hounslow Idling Action Event @ Cavendish Primary School
Apr 4 @ 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm

Our second Idling Action event in Hounslow will take place on Thursday 4th April at Cavendish Primary School in Chiswick.

We will be holding a special assembly on air quality for the pupils, followed by a training session for volunteers at 2.15pm. The volunteers will then be on the street in time for the end of the school day, talking to parents arriving to collect their kids and encouraging idling drivers to switch off.
