We have produced several toolkits for schools.

Schools Toolkit – Idling Action Event Pack

This toolkit provides guidance and resources for schools who would like to run their own Idling Action Events. Resources in the toolkit include:

  • Best practice guidance – Guidance on how to develop a campaign, and plan and deliver events.
  • Volunteer Pack – An information pack that can be sent out to volunteers before they come along to an event. It contains: Idling and air pollution FAQs, a myth buster, health and safety guidance for volunteers, a script for talking to drivers, and tips for using social media.
  • Event Leader Pack – Editable word and excel document resources for the event, including: An event checklist, an idling log, photo permission forms, and guidance on event risk assessments.
  • Campaign Materials – Printable PDF files of our leaflet, poster and window sticker.
  • Slides for an assembly presentation – So your Idling Action Volunteers can share the event with the rest of the school.

Idling Action Pack – Student Workshop and Pledge Pack

This toolkit provides guidance and resources for schools who would like to deliver their own air quality and anti-idling student workshop and activities. Resources in the toolkit include:

  • A video workshop on air pollution with guided discussion points
  • Instructions for creating a DIY ‘no idling’ banner
  • The Act On Idling Pledge Challenge  
  • Printable leaflets

Engine Off Every Stop Campaign Pack for Schools

This toolkit contains a communications pack and artwork downloads for schools to share the Engine Off Every Stop ad campaign with their school community to encourage those that drive to/from school to always remember to switch off.

Our toolkits are free to use. We ask for some basic information so we can understand the reach of our campaign and have some simple terms of use for our resources (these are also listed at the bottom of this page).

Terms and Conditions: 

  • The downloaded materials, logo and branding shall be used solely for their intended purpose, specifically, organising and hosting an idling engine Event that encourages behaviour change in a positive, non-confrontational manner. An Event includes individuals speaking to drivers who are parked and idling their engine for more than a minute and distributing idling engine leaflets or information or a similar non-commercial local campaign (“Event”).
  • The downloaded materials and branding shall not be used for monetary gain or any commercial purpose.
  • The Event organiser is responsible for Event health and safety issues associated with their own Event and should be a person of at least 18 years of age. The supplied information is intended to facilitate the organising and hosting of the Event, but it is not intended to be exhaustive or incorporate local health and safety requirements.
  • The Idling Action participating local authorities and the Mayor of London accept no liability for any loss or damage that arises from the use of the materials or organising and hosting an Event or for any omissions or incorrect information save as required by law.
  • Where the materials, content of the material, or branding are used, you should display, where possible, within the Event or its materials: “Used with the kind permission of the Idling Action London project and The Mayor of London”)
  • Materials may be downloaded only by persons of at least 18 years of age.
  • Materials containing reference to the Mayor of London or any logo representing the Mayor of London, the GLA or TfL must not be used during the pre-election period for the Mayor of London and London Assembly Elections

Data Protection: Your personal details will only be used to contact you via email with regard to the vehicle idling project. Your details will be shared with staff who are directly involved in running this project. Your details will not be shared with any third parties without your express permission.
